Sport Pilot

Sport Pilot
A sport pilot is someone who loves to fly for the fun of it. Sports pilots have a different function than do a commercial pilot or military pilot.

A sport pilot enthusiast will usually compete in an event such as the Michelin Sport Pilot Cup. In order to prepare for such an event sport pilot lesions are usually taken in order to obtain a sport pilot license. This pilot license is earned through the process of training by way of sport pilot instruction, such as the light sport pilot instruction provided in California.

The licensing requirements for a sport pilot are documented on sport pilot school sites, as well as the EAA Sport Pilot site. The pilot certificate needed to fly solo is awarded by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). Those who are a member of the EAA which is located in Oshkosh, WI are welcome to attend an EAA event such as the EAA sport pilot tour or the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.

The sport pilot aircraft used in events such as the Michelin Sport Cup event are of a variety of models. Generally most of these aircrafts are of the light sport aircraft category. This means that the plans are easier to handle and operate than more complex units used for professional use.

Light sport aircraft units are usually fix-wing aircrafts. A large number of these fix-wing aircrafts are in the category of Experimental Light Sport Aircraft (E-LSA) units or Special Light-Sport Aircrafts (S-LSA). Additional requirements for competition by way of the use of one of these types of aircrafts are displayed on a site such as the EAA, FAA, or sport pilot training school website.

Those who are interested in reading more about sport piloting will be able to find quite a bit of information in publications such as the Sport Pilot Ultralight Magazine. This magazine has recently changed its format.

The new format of the Ultralight Flying! Magazine includes information about recent changes in FAA light sport flight rules. The website to this magazine also includes links to the Ultralight Marketplace. T

The Ultralight Marketplace is a section of the magazine that sells accessories and parts for virtually any type of aircraft, and aircraft building kits. Saving money on aircraft for sale may be possible for those who purchase from this particular marketplace. Reviews on products such as Michelin Sports pilot tires may also be included in this particular section of the magazine.
