There are many different types of flights. Quite a few are commercial and numerous flights are private, or military and government-oriented.

One example of different types of flights is one that leaves and arrives in the U.K, either to a local or international destination. These are usually categorized as either short hauls or long hauls. This is further explained in the next couple of paragraphs.

The short haul flight usually lasts about six hours or less. This length of a flight would take passengers to most places from the U.K. to quite a few other countries in Europe. It is also the length of quite a few other domestic flights.

The long haul is a flight that lasts for more than six hours, and is one that takes passengers overseas from the U.K. For example, travelers taking the “long haul” would arrive in the United States, Australia, or elsewhere.

Other miscellaneous types of flights that may be offered by an airline are around the world tickets and open jaw tickets. These are usually available to passengers for a variety of price ranges.

The around the world ticket is fairly self-explanatory, of course. It is a ticket that will take a passenger to a series of locations around the world-or at least to different parts of the world.

An open jaw ticket is one that allows passengers to travel to one place and to return from another. These sometimes are more expensive than just purchasing one-way or round trip tickets. However, passengers have the luxury of not needing to return to the original travel destination.

Flights can be planned ahead of time or they can be arranged at the last minute. The above types of flight are largely for commercial use. There are also private planes and government flights that are taken quite a bit.

Military travel is done quite frequently as well, and those who are in active duty often receive hefty discounts. In fact, they may even receive a voucher in order to travel free.

Different types of flights are used for different purposes. For instance, some are for business and others are for pleasure. These trips can be funding and/or paid for in a variety of ways.

Frequent travelers will usually accumulate flyers miles depending upon the types of flights that they choose. Round trip and one-way flight information is made readily available all over the Internet.
